OCRemix

I Heard this from your link over on OC Remix.org i had no idea it was on Newgrounds, but now that i do im giving you a 10/10 and a 5/5 :)

I agree with Meran thats the main melody of the battle theme is hard to hear, but disagree on the fact that its not there entirely. Any fan of the battle theme can hear it in this and its awesome. It really does add a cinematic feel to it kinda.
Also, like some of the reviews on OCRemix said, you need to make this longer and build more on it :) Im gonna be keeping my eyes and ears out on you BR cause you have some talent here.

You could have a go at another version of this song with the orchestra instruments sounding a lot more powerful, with an explosive sounding percussion behind it, and a little more of the battle melody blasting out over the top and i think you'd have yourself another awesome piece right there.

Downloading this, adding you to favorites :) Hope to hear more from you in the future BR, more pieces sounding like this please haha.

Hope you like the review! You deserve all the 10/10's and 5/5's you get :)

hmmm

I'm going to give you 7 / 10 and a 4 / 5 for this piece. Im going to be honest and say its not the most amazing thing i've heard on the DnB portal today, but you get the score and the review cause at about 0:20 and especially 01:13 this piece reminds me of music from The Terminator for the MegaDrive and i was just thinking about that game before i listened to this :o Freaky!

Thanks for the nostalgia :)

Awesome

Yer from Bristol Yarrrr. Good song, downloading it now for my iPod. Reminds me of a song my dad made with his brothers and friends after many nights of garagebanding at home and my nans house.

Can feel the Englishness and hear it too

10/10

awesome

Very nice, i enjoyed it quite a bit, although the horns did make it sounds a tiny little bit Midi-fied if you know what i mean.
I think you should work on it some more, change it around a little, make it sound more epic and then submit it to Ocremix.org remix workshop and see what the other mixers can offer help on, cause as far as i know there are no Jenova Absolute remixes there and id sure like to see(hear) a pro one.

10/10 for not sounding as drone-like as the other Absolute remixes here.

paradiddlesjosh responds:

Actually, since the creation of Voices of the Lifestream, every FFVII track has been ReMixed at least once -- and in the case of Jenova Absolute, it's a beautiful Danny Elfman-like orchestral arrangement (leaning more towards Elfman's Nightmare Before Christmas works).

I never intended on making this arrangement OCReMix-worthy. S-E-P-H-I-R-O-T-H!: Perfect, Soul Reaver Schism and Tools of the Ancients (FFVII, LoK: Soul Reaver, and FFVII respectively) will be getting that treatment (except that in the case of Tools of the Ancients, I was told outright that I would need new equipment to get the sound they're looking for in the Work-in-Progress forums -- and they weren't talking about FL Studio or Pro Tools).

I don't think the horns are the source of the .midi sounding problem; you may be hearing what should be saxophones. I can't ever find great sax soundfonts, so I have to settle for the crap that ends up in GM 'fonts.

Anyway, thanks for your review. :D

cool

Very fluid sounding, Slow, yet gives a feeling of needing to rush through something, like rushing to defuse some bomb or something, thats what the thoughts i get listening to this :o

Reminds me of the Die Hard Trilogy game way back on the Playstation 1, kinda the same style as the soundtrack you'd hear playing from the 3rd episodes where your first person mode shooting stuffs :) I like it, gonna download and listen to it whilst Tanking with my Paladin on World of Warcraft <3

And LOL at the guy below me: "btw im a guy".
Jeeze if i met a girl called James id be very scared. He's the reason i felt like writing a review. just, lol.

KUDOS!

Not Shinobi

To be more precise:

This is the theme of Oedo Town from a game known as Legend of the Mystical Ninja for the SNES (1992) for anyone thinking "omg this nots Revenge of Shinobi"

newrounds1 responds:

Hmm ok but was it so bad? only a 5 ??

awesome :)

I like this, its so simple and sounds very beautiful and yet has a awesome coolness about it.

This reminds me of something you'd hear in Afro Samurai or the anime Samurai Champloo more so than Virtua Fighter:) now i feel like going to watch them all over again ><

Not too fond of the ending though :( But such a great piece <3

GunstarGreene responds:

It does sound like it'd belong with Afro Samurai or Samurai Champloo, I agree. It's really not supposed to remind you of something you'd 'hear' in virtua fighter 5 as it was just inspiration to make a beat. Most of my tracks are named randomly and this one just had a vibe that I based the name off of. The ending is the way it is because it's a transition to another song, it does sound a bit off by itself.

Thanks for the review, glad you dig it.
